Best Delta Shower Systems: Practical Features for Easier Everyday Use

A strong Delta shower system delivers dependable temperature control, flexible spray coverage, and the right installation components for remodelers, families, and everyday users. This roundup compares 10 Delta systems across complete bundles, trim-only configurations, In2ition two-in-one showers, raincan heads, handhelds, finishes, and bathtub compatibility. The most important distinction is whether the package includes the rough-in valve: several complete systems do, while others require a separate MultiChoice Universal Shower Valve.

Head size and shape also affect the feel and appearance of the shower, from 6-inch or 6.5-inch focused coverage to 10-inch rainfall designs. Use the guide below to match your existing plumbing, preferred controls, and bathing routine to a practical Delta configuration.

The best Delta shower system depends on installation needs and shower style. Choose a complete bundle such as the Modern 14 Series or Saylor system when included valves or rough-ins simplify a new installation. Select an In2ition model for a detachable handheld that can work separately or simultaneously with the shower head.

Delta’s Modern raincan systems provide 10-inch overhead coverage, while 6-inch to 6.5-inch heads offer a more compact format. Confirm valve inclusion, bathtub compatibility, finish, and spray settings before ordering.

What Buyers Often Overlook

Valve inclusion and installation fit

Valve inclusion is the key compatibility check because these Delta systems do not share the same package contents. The Modern 342701-SP and 342702 are complete systems with required valves, while the Saylor FVS6-SA2101-CZ includes all required rough-ins. The Arvo 142840-CZ-I and 144840-CZ-I also list the valve as included.

By contrast, the Modern T342703-SP, T342704-CZ, T342704-SPLHD, Ashlyn T17264-BL-I, and Saylor T17235-CZ-I are sold with the valve separately; each specifies a recommended MultiChoice valve series or model. The T342704-SPLHD also excludes the shower head, allowing a separate Delta head choice.

This creates a real trade-off: complete packages can reduce component matching during a new installation, while trim-only systems may better suit an existing compatible valve or a deliberately customized setup. Verify the recommended rough-in before purchase.

The Key Product Trade-Off

Head size, spray format, and bathing flexibility

Head size and shower format determine whether the system emphasizes broad rainfall coverage, compact control, or targeted handheld use. The Modern 342701-SP and 342702 use 10-inch raincan heads for overhead coverage without requiring ceiling plumbing. The Modern T342703-SP uses a 6.5-inch head, while the T342704-CZ and Saylor FVS6-SA2101-CZ use 6-inch and 6.5-inch formats respectively.

In2ition models add a detachable hand shower that can be used separately or simultaneously with the main head, helping with focused rinsing, children, pets, or bathing tasks. The Arvo 142840-CZ-I is a shower faucet set, while the 144840-CZ-I adds a tub spout for bathtub installations.

Several systems provide multiple spray modes, including massage and pause settings. A larger raincan favors broad overhead coverage; a handheld or multi-setting head favors control and task flexibility.

Best Delta Shower Systems: Buyer's Guide

Fit, Dimensions, and Compatibility

Compare the listed dimensions with the intended counter, cabinet, appliance, storage, or installation space. Confirm model compatibility and connection requirements where they are supplied. A useful feature cannot compensate for a product that does not physically fit or work with the buyer’s existing setup.

Capacity, Output, and Operating Format

Match listed capacity, volume, output, and operating mode to the actual household or work routine. Larger figures can support heavier use, while a smaller format may be easier to place and maintain. Treat daily output, immediate storage, and container capacity as separate specifications when the listing distinguishes them.

Materials, Construction, and Care

Use the listed materials and care instructions to judge cleaning effort, storage conditions, and compatibility with the intended use. Dishwasher, freezer, food-contact, or weather-related claims are included only when supplied for that product. Check whether routine care fits the way the product will be used.

Included Components and Setup Needs

Review the included components before planning installation or first use. Hoses, adapters, lids, paddles, bowls, brushes, controls, and manuals vary by listing. Confirm power, water, assembly, or accessory requirements from the supplied product information rather than assuming that separately pictured parts are included.

Which Should You Choose?

Choose the Modern 342701-SP or 342702 if you want a 10-inch raincan system with a complete valve package and overhead coverage. Pick the Saylor FVS6-SA2101-CZ when five spray options, a handheld with slide bar, and included rough-ins matter. For flexible rinsing, bathing children or pets, or using two spray sources, select an In2ition configuration such as the Arvo 142840-CZ-I, Arvo 144840-CZ-I, or Saylor T17235-CZ-I.

Choose the 144840-CZ-I specifically for a tub-and-shower setup with a tub spout. If you already have or plan to select a compatible rough-in, the Modern T342703-SP, T342704-CZ, T342704-SPLHD, or Ashlyn T17264-BL-I offers a trim-focused route.

Confirm valve and head contents before ordering.

Quick Buying Checklist

• Confirm the complete dimensions against the available space.
• Verify model, accessory, connection, and appliance compatibility.
• Match capacity or output to the expected amount of use.
• Compare materials and care instructions with the maintenance routine.
• Check the included components before planning setup or first use.
• Confirm listed power, water, storage, or installation requirements where applicable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a shower system and a trim kit?

A shower system typically includes the shower head, handle, and valve trim, and often the rough-in valve. A trim kit usually only includes the visible parts like the shower head, handle, and escutcheon plate, requiring a separate valve.

Are Delta shower systems easy to install?

Installation difficulty varies. Systems that include the rough-in valve are more comprehensive. Many Delta systems are designed for DIY installation, but some may require professional plumbing knowledge, especially for valve replacement.

What does 'Valve Not Included' mean for a shower system?

This means the purchase only includes the trim pieces (shower head, handle, etc.) and you must buy the internal valve separately. Ensure compatibility with the specified valve type for proper function.

What is the benefit of a 2-in-1 shower head with a handheld spray?

A 2-in-1 system offers versatility, allowing you to use the main shower head, the handheld spray, or both simultaneously. This is ideal for rinsing, bathing children, or cleaning the shower.

How do I choose the right finish for my shower system?

Finishes like brushed nickel, chrome, and matte black are popular and durable. Consider your existing bathroom hardware and personal style. SpotShield finishes resist water spots and are easier to clean.

Final Words

Selecting the right Delta shower system depends on your needs, from a luxurious rain shower to a practical dual-head setup. Consider whether the valve is included and choose a finish that complements your bathroom. For versatile cleaning and rinsing, a dual-function system is a practical choice.
